Page Viewer

About 5 min read

Pages designed and saved in the editor open in the page viewer. This page describes the viewer toolbar, full screen and kiosk use, and page printing.

Viewer toolbar

In the upper right corner of the page is a small toolbar with page actions. The toolbar has the Print and Full Screen buttons.

When the toolbar is shown is set with the Viewer toolbar setting while the page is designed:

OptionBehavior
Auto (show on activity)Appears when the mouse moves over the page or the screen is touched, and disappears after a few seconds.
Always visibleThe toolbar is always visible.
HiddenThe toolbar is not shown.

Full screen

The Full Screen button opens the page in the browser's full screen mode; the top bar and the side menu are hidden. Exit full screen with the Esc key; Esc works even when the toolbar is hidden. On devices that do not support the browser's full screen feature, the page is enlarged within the window.

Kiosk mode

On devices used for continuous monitoring, such as a wall display or a panel PC, add ?kiosk=1 to the end of the page address. In this mode:

  • The top bar, the side menu, the footer and the viewer toolbar are hidden.
  • Kiosk mode is kept when you move to other pages through links on the page.
  • Permissions do not change: the signed-in user sees only the pages they are authorized for.
  • When the server connection is lost, the screen tries to reconnect by itself and the session is kept. When a new version is installed on the server, the kiosk screen reloads into it by itself once it has not been touched for 60 seconds. Details: Recovery after an outage.

A kiosk screen can also show several pages one after another, each for a set time. For this, a page rotation is defined and the screen is opened with the rotation's kiosk address (?kiosk=1&rotation=<Rotation name>). See Page Rotations.

Password change

If an account whose password has not been changed is used on a kiosk screen, the screen switches to the password change page when the session is renewed and waits there. For details, see Changing the Password at First Sign-In.

Connection strips

In kiosk mode and in full screen the top bar is not visible, so the connection state is shown in a strip at the bottom of the page. The strip does not block touch input and is not printed.

StripWhen it appears
No server connection, reconnecting (…) and The values on screen are not current. When the live data connection to the server has been lost for more than 5 seconds. The outage duration is shown in parentheses. The values and alarms on screen are the last known state before the outage; the alarm list and the alarm counts do not drop to 0 during the outage. When the connection is back, the strip disappears, the values update without a page reload and the alarm list is replaced by the server's current active alarms (see During a connection outage).
No communication: N device(s)When the server connection is available but there are devices whose communication is not current. The devices are listed on the Device States page.

If a page rotation runs, its status is also shown at the bottom right (see Rotation status).

Printing a page

Print the page on A4 paper with the Print button on the toolbar or with Ctrl+P (Cmd+P on macOS). The top of the printout shows the page name, the print date and time, and the username. If a range is selected on the page with a Page time picker, the header also shows the range after Range: as the picker displays it (in the browser's time zone). The picker's buttons are not printed, only the range label. Charts are printed as high-resolution images in their on-screen colors.

The printing behavior is set with the following settings while the page is designed:

SettingOptions
Print orientationLandscape (A4) (default) or Portrait (A4). It can still be changed in the browser's print dialog.
Print fitAutomatic (by page type): flexible (responsive) pages are fitted to the paper width, fixed-size SCADA screens are fitted to a single sheet. Whole page on one sheet: everything is scaled down to a single sheet and centered. Fit to width: the page fills the paper width and continues on the following sheets.
Print coloursLight (for paper): printed with a white background whatever the screen theme. As on screen: the on-screen colors are printed, including the dark theme.

On pages that span several sheets, cards, charts and rows are not split between sheets where possible. To make a widget start on a new sheet, type tw-print-break-before in the widget's class field in the editor.

On flexible (responsive) pages, an Alarm table prints all its rows up to the Maximum rows setting instead of its on-screen page; the pager and the Acknowledge buttons are not printed. On fixed-size pages, the alarm table prints only the page currently shown on screen.

All the data in tables

Data tables print only the rows currently visible in the table. For all the data, use the table's Excel export.
