Backup and Restore
Energy Performance definitions are part of the configuration backup; closed reports and other operational records are not. This page describes how the module behaves when a configuration backup is restored. For the configuration backup itself, see Backup and Restore.
What the backup contains
In the configuration backup, the Energy Performance definitions are a separate module; it appears in the module list as energyperformance (the same in every interface language). The module contains:
- the site and area/line tree,
- the meters and the permanent key of each meter,
- tag links and history declarations,
- kWh factors,
- the definition of the production variables,
- baseline and target revisions.
The module does not depend on other modules. When a package that does not contain this module is restored (for example a package taken before 2.11), the energy definitions are not touched.
What the backup does not contain
The following are operational records, not definitions, and are not part of the configuration backup:
- closed reports (official revisions),
- calculations and draft results,
- corrections and revocation records,
- monthly manual production values,
- archive access grants.
These records are kept in the SQL Server database and are protected by the SQL Server database backup. The product has no separate evidence backup. Take regular database backups for your closed reports (see Installation Guide).
Moving the configuration to another server does not move past official reports. A restore does not delete old closed reports.
Restore preview
If the package to be restored contains the Tags or Log Definitions module and the installation has energy definitions, the preview shows this warning: Farklı bir projenin yedeğini yüklemek enerji arşivinin canlı veriyle bağlantısını koparır. ("Restoring a backup of a different project breaks the link between the energy archive and live data.") The warning is a server text and is shown in Turkish in every interface language. The warning does not block the restore; the decision is yours.
While the restore is running, calculation, corrections and closing are temporarily unavailable: A configuration restore is in progress. Try again when it has finished. If the restore starts while a calculation is running, the calculation stops (The calculation was stopped by a configuration restore.); calculate the month again when the restore has finished. A closing and a restore cannot overlap.
Backup of the same project
When a backup of the same project is restored, the IDs and names of the tag and log definitions are kept. Access to the energy archive is not broken:
- Closed reports stay readable and downloadable immediately; they do not wait for approval.
- New calculations wait until the tag links are approved. The The configuration was restored. bar appears on the Period Report, Trend and Definitions screens.
- In the dialog opened with Review Links, approve the links in one step with the Approve {count} Unchanged Links button (see Approval after a restore).
- On the Definitions > Archive Access tab, the archive access grants show Grant again after restore. For the roles that read through archive access, grant the access again with Grant Again. Users who read with current data rights are not affected.
Tags whose settings were different before the restore, or that were deleted, show Settings differ or Tag not found and are relinked one by one.
Backup of a different project
If a backup of a different project is restored, the tag and log definitions are replaced with those of that project. The link between the energy definitions and today's tags is broken:
- Most tag links become Settings differ or Tag not found and are not used in new calculations. The approval dialog warns: Most links do not match. A backup of another project may have been restored. Old reports open only with archive access.
- Old closed reports are not deleted, but because they do not match today's tags, they cannot be opened with current data rights. These reports open only with archive access explicitly granted for the old scope. If the package also contains energy definitions, the scopes of the old reports appear in the list with the no live counterpart label.
- The product does not "repair" the links automatically. If needed, link the meters to the tags of the new project with Link Again… and give a history declaration for the earlier months.
Same names and settings
If a backup of a different project is restored with the same tag names and the same settings, the system cannot tell it apart from the same project; the links show Settings unchanged. That is why approval is asked after every restore, and the approval is recorded under your name. If you are not sure that the package you restored belongs to this site, do not approve the links.
