Frequently Asked Questions

Does the module get us an ISO 50001 certificate?

No. Energy Performance provides measurement and performance data for an ISO 50001 energy management system: monthly totals with a defined measurement boundary, data quality, energy intensity, baseline and target comparison, closed reports and XLSX. The energy management system itself (policy, action plans, internal audit, management review) and certification are outside the module.

How is it different from the free Consumptions screen?

The Consumptions screen shows the consumption of tags on the fly, with the same calculation rule. Energy Performance adds on top of this a measurement boundary (which meter enters the total), kWh conversion, data quality, justified corrections, monthly closing, revisions and the official report. A closed month does not change later.

Why does last month's report show "Not calculated"?

If the meter's tag link was created today, the months before the link are not used. If the tag measured the same meter in the past, select the meter in Definitions and give a declaration from that month on with Declare History…; then calculate the month again. Step 3 of the wizard asks this question too. See History declaration.

Why is the month in which the link started "Partially calculated"?

If the link started in the middle of the month, the part from the start of the month to the link is not calculated. For the whole month, declare that the tag has measured the same meter since the start of that month.

My natural gas meter is included in the total, but the total is a "Partial total". Why?

The meter has no kWh factor for that month; the natural gas cannot be converted to kWh, so it does not enter the total and the total is partial. In the meter details, enter a factor valid from the start of the month with New Factor (see kWh factor). If you want to keep the source out of the total on purpose, set the total membership to Internal distribution — breakdown only.

Why is water not in the total?

Water is not energy; it is shown separately in m³, enters no energy total and does not affect the total label.

Why is a meter without a value not counted as zero?

Missing data is not zero consumption. A row without a value does not enter the total, and the total becomes a Partial total; this way an incomplete month does not look like a complete month with low consumption. A measured zero, on the other hand, is a valid value.

I have a main meter and sub-meters. Does the total count twice?

Only meters that are Included in site total are added up. Set the main meter to included and the sub-meters to Internal distribution — breakdown only. If several meters of the same type in the same site are included in the total, the wizard, Missing for the Report and the closing dialog warn about possible double counting. Two separate supplies are normal, so the warning does not block.

A meter failed or was replaced; how do I correct the month?

In the draft view, choose Add Delta Correction (add an amount to or subtract it from the measurement) or Enter Manual Period Total (a month total instead of the measurement) in the row details. The reason and the source document are required. For an included meter, a manual period total makes the total a Total incl. manual values, and it is not comparable. See Corrections. If the meter moved to a new tag, link the meter to the new tag.

How do I change a closed month?

A closed report cannot be changed or deleted. Calculate a new draft with More actions > Calculate New Revision…, correct it with Add Correction for a New Revision… if needed, and close it with Close as Rev. {next}…. From Rev. 2 on, a revision reason is required. The previous revision is kept. See New revision.

Can I close the current month?

No. The current month can be calculated and the consumption up to today can be seen, but the month cannot be closed before it ends. When the month has ended, recalculate and close it. A result calculated before the month ended cannot be closed either.

The closing dialog says the previous month is not closed. Does this block closing?

No, it is a warning. Data missing at the end of the previous month can be written to the first reading of this month; that is why checking and closing the months in order is recommended.

Why is the calculation "Waiting" or taking very long?

While SCADA is busy, the energy calculation waits to protect live data collection; if the load lasts longer than 15 minutes, it stops. Only one energy calculation runs at a time on the installation; the others are queued. You can leave the page; the calculation continues in the background.

A user cannot open the report. Why?

With current data rights, the official report is shown only to a user who has an energy role and can access all meters of the scope. If the user has no energy role, give them the Energy Reader role; process group rights alone are not enough. If the user's process group rights do not cover all tags in the scope, the user can open a sub-scope (Area/Line). For roles that need to read closed reports without SCADA data rights (for example an auditor), grant archive access.

If the add-on expires or is removed from the license, are closed reports lost?

No. The module switches to archive mode: closed reports can be opened and their XLSX downloaded; new calculations, definitions and closings are not possible. Definitions are not deleted.

I restored a configuration backup; the calculation does not start.

After a restore, tag links must be approved before new calculations. With Review Links, approve the links whose settings are unchanged in bulk and relink the ones that differ. Closed reports stay readable meanwhile. See Backup and Restore.

Are closed reports in the configuration backup?

No. The configuration backup contains only the energy definitions. Closed reports, corrections and monthly production values are protected by the SQL Server database backup.

Can I export the trend to Excel?

No. The trend is an analysis and is not exported. The XLSX comes only from a closed monthly report; a separate file is downloaded for each revision.

Why is the energy intensity "Not comparable"?

Energy intensity is comparable when the energy total is a Complete total and the production is complete. If the total is partial, contains manual values or has a quality warning, or if production is missing, the intensity is shown but not compared with the baseline and target; the reason is shown on the card.

Why is no baseline comparison made?

If no reference value was entered manually, every month of the baseline must be closed and a Complete total. If even one month is missing, the reference is not calculated. Close the reference months or enter the reference value manually. See Baseline.

Why does the report not say "improvement" or "savings"?

A raw consumption difference cannot be counted as a performance improvement without taking relevant variables such as production into account. The product only shows the "difference"; you judge how to interpret the difference and whether the indicator is suitable for your site.
